A LOOK AT 2008 WEATHER

Well, winter 2007/2008 has been a long and white one.  We started getting snow in November and we have gotten several good sized snow storms.  We also got the dreaded freezing rain/sleet/ice, but have held up fairly well.  The ski areas have had a MUCH better season this winter as opposed to 2006/2007 when we didn't get ANY snow till the end of January.

We will attempt to put down any "interesting" weather we may have during this year.

To start this off I feel that the recent heavy rains on deep snow have been our most interesting weather events to date.  On Feb.  the heavy rains we got, along with a couple warm days an the already deep snow accumulation proved a bit much for our river.   The ice jammed forming a nature made dam that allowed the water to rise significantly.  The rising water was watched with earnest by the police department and eventually we had to evacuate our parking lot till the water subsided later that day.  Another winter storm marched in and dumped several inches of snow and nice weather for the skiers.

Then on March 8th, we again had torrential rains on top of the heavy snow pack.  While we, in the Southern area of Vermont and New York, got rain, rain, rain, up North of us and into Canada, they got clobbered with two or more feet of snow!  While they were struggling to dig themselves out of the snow, we were endeavoring to remove water that seeped into the Inn.  Not to worry, though, no rooms were involved in any way, we lost the Racquetball Court in the basement and we are looking into replacing it. which will be temporarily out of function till things are fixed up.
